Program Overview
A career in the Administration of Justice system means the opportunity and the chance to make a difference. It also requires complete dedication and total focus.
The associate in science degree in Administration of Justice is considered an educational foundation if your goal is to pursue a career in law enforcement, probation, parole, or investigations. Depending on your career interest, a bachelor’s degree may be required for employment. Many law enforcement and probation positions require a higher level of education.
Our degree program is designed to provide you with a pathway leading to a bachelor’s degree by offering four areas of emphasis:- Law Enforcement
- Corrections
- Forensics
- Criminology
Law Enforcement covers a broad range of career opportunities and depending on your interest; there are a variety of pathways you can choose.
Corrections
The field of Corrections includes federal, state and local parole, probation and correctional officers. Probation and Parole officers supervise adult or juvenile offenders in community based corrections programs. Correctional officers work in peni-tentiaries, jails, or youth camps; supervising inmates while in custody serving sentences or awaiting trial.
Forensics
Those whose emphasis is in forensics will be trained in the scientific process, helping solve crimes by collecting and analyzing physical evidence and other facts found at a crime scene.
Criminology
Criminology is primarily a research or teaching based profession and involves the study of crime theories and the impact of criminal behavior on the criminal justice system and society.
