Holy Names University, Allan Hancock College, and Marian Medical Center
RN/BSN Distance Education Program

Thanks to a partnership between Marian Medical Center, Holy Names University and Allan Hancock College, registered nurses interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) can now complete the degree on the Allan Hancock campus.

Classes are offered every night from 6 pm to 10 pm via interactive video conferencing on the Allan Hancock Santa Maria campus. Faculty at Holy Names teaches the courses with an adjunct faculty person on site with the students. The degree is conferred by Holy Names University.

The nursing programs at Holy Names University are special as they are student-focused and designed for working nurses. At completion of the RN/BSN program the graduates are eligible for the pubic health credential as well as a variety of other opportunities in healthcare.

Known as the NEXUS program, the RN/BSN program is accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Western Association of Western Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredit the university.

Tuition and Fees

Since Holy Names University has a contract with Catholic Healthcare West, employees at Marin Medical Center, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and French Hospital (all CHW hospitals) and any other CHW hospital receive a 15% reduction in tuition. In the fall of 2005 the tuition will be $420/unit. For CHW employees the tuition will be $357.00/unit.

Fees for books, clinical insurance, on-line library use, and supplies for the program are approximately $3,300.
